Babington Technology is a leader in safe, clean and efficient liquid fuel combustion technology as well as heat-on-the-move field feeding systems used by the U.S. military, disaster relief organizations and other commercial entities. Babington is a pioneer in clean and efficient combustion technology, and applies its manufacturing expertise and innovation in the field of fuel atomization to support efforts to modernize field feeding operations. We are dedicated to supporting the American Warfighter and disaster relief first responders. The company has its chief manufacturing operations in Rocky Mount, NC.
The superior efficiencies and advanced qualities of all Babington appliances can be attributed to the Babington Airtronic Burner, which uses the unique and innovative liquid atomization principle invented and patented by Robert S. Babington, the company’s founder. Otherwise known as the “Babington Principle,” it serves as the foundation underlying the core technology for creating a superfine (fog-like) mist of any liquid. This allows the Airtronic to create a uniform spray of submicron-sized particles of fuel at very low pressure, which burn like a gas when ignited. The small particle size means that any distillate fuel, such as diesel or bio-fuels, can be burned from start-up to shutdown with no smoke, odor, or carbon monoxide.
Since 1995, when the company was awarded its first contract by the United States Marine Corps for the innovative Tray Ration Heating System, Babington has been supplying the U.S. Military and Disaster Relief agencies with advanced field feeding equipment. Prior to that, the Company introduced Medical Aerosol and Home Heating products in Europe and the U.S.
The product portfolio consists of the Airtronic Burner, Tray Ration Heater, Powered Multi-fuel Burner, Field Sanitation Unit, Quiet Griddle, Convection Oven, Stock Pot Station and Tilt Skillet. The company recently introduced the Disaster Relief Mobile Kitchen Trailer (DRMKT). Based on the company’s experience supporting the National Guard’s relief efforts on the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, the DRMKT is designed specifically to support First Responders in one of their chief missions of providing mass care to those in need.
During the downturn in the economy, Babington Technology has continued to thrive and indeed increased hiring during the last four years. The company has recently accelerated its hiring and increased its workforce by 10% since completing a long-term contract with the Defense Logistics Agency.

The history of Babington Technology begins when Robert S. "Bob" Babington, one of the youngest members of Apollo Manned Lunar Landing management team, leaves NASA to launch Babington Engineering in order to pursue practical applications to the unique liquid atomization principle he invented and patented.
