The Babington Airtronic® Powered
Multi-fuel Burner
Another application for the versatile Airtronic® Burner
The rear mounting arrangement of the burner with its protective cover (shown at the right) is identical to the TRH mounting configuration, thus allowing total interchangeability. The slide-in front drawer contains a firebox that captures the heat from the burner and evenly distributes it throughout the cabinet. The M-59 Retrofit is also equipped with a thermostat that can be easily adjusted to achieve any desired temperature without moving the burner from the lower mounting position.

Powered Multi-fuel Burner (PMB)*
The Babington PMB is a front-loaded M-2 replacement system. It is a modular design comprised of a heating sled and an Airtronic Burner. The burner slides into the heating sled with the same mounting arrangement used in the TRH and the M-59 Retrofit. This retains the interchangeability feature and the "one size fits all" concept. The Babington PMB was designed with additional features including complete thermostatic control over the heat output, retractable stock pot holders to safely capture a 15 gallon stock pot and a convenient drop-on stainless steel cooking surface for frying and grilling.

The M-59 Field Range...Once a hazard,
now a field feeding champion.
The M-59 Field Range is well known in Military field feeding for its simplicity and versatility. Unfortunately, in the past it's also been known for
its lack-luster performance, and more importantly its extremely dangerous M-2 gasoline burner. All branches of the US Military have recognized the need to replace the dangerous
M-2 gasoline burner with a safe efficient burner system. As a result, the M-59 Retrofit program was born at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) at 29 Palms, California. The goal was to replace the gasoline fired M-2 burner with a reliable and safe diesel fired alternative capable of operating without smoke or odor from startup to shutdown.

The results have been astonishing
Since the program was initiated in January 1996, approximately 13 million meals have been served. During this period many of the burners have accumulated more than
9,000 hours of operation with only routine maintenance. During this time, there have been no complaints of eye, nose, or throat irritation, no reports of smoke or diesel odor in the kitchen, no unscheduled shutdowns or mission failures, and no safety incidents. Cooks have reported that with the M-59 retrofits, twice as much food can be prepared in half the time with half the number of cabinets. The cooks also point out that the spillage of food, water and grease have had no performance or safety effect on the equipment. A further safety feature is the fact that all the burners draw fuel as needed from a 500-gallon diesel fuel tank located outside the building. This avoids spillage or even contact with fuel by personnel inside the kitchen. In summary, the use of a thermostat in combination with the versatility and clean burning characteristics of the Airtronic Burner upgrades the M-59 Field Range to a modern day multi-purpose cooking appliance that is as easy to use as a domestic or commercial oven.
